Environmental Health Services Pool Safety Survey Application

San Bernardino County, CA
Program Year: 2019

Abstract:
San Bernardino County Department of Public Health (DPH), Environmental Health Services (EHS) is dedicated to improving the quality of life for all county residents and visitors by protecting public health, promoting safety, and preventing environmental hazards. Within the county of San Bernardino, approximately 2,800 permitted pools and spas are surveyed twice a year by Public Service Employees (PSEs). To ensure the health and safety of swimmers, it is imperative that EHS identify and address pools and spas that are safety hazards as quickly as possible. The implementation of the Pool Safety Survey Application has led to an increase in daily pool and spa surveys resulting in greater pool safety for the community. The Pool Safety Survey Application is a collection of four electronic applications running simultaneously to help EHS Public Service Employees (PSE) complete the surveying of public pools and spas. These applications are ArcGIS Navigator, ArcGIS Survey123, ArcGIS Workforce, and Zapier. Together, these applications assist with the planning, assigning, managing, navigating, surveying, and reporting of pool and spa surveys. The implementation of this technology simplifies and accelerates the surveying process in three areas: Workforce management, location navigation, and data entry.
