Special Collaboration with Marine Bases to keep Children Safe

Abstract:
San Bernardino County Children and Family Services (CFS) is responsible for the protection of abused and neglected children within the Morongo Basin, Northern Desert/Barstow area and San Bernardino County. To protect children of military families who are at risk of abuse and/or neglect, CFS has established a special collaboration with the Marine Air Ground Task Force Training Command (MAGTFTC)-Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center (MCAGCC), Twentynine Palms base and the Fort Irwin base.CFS’ aims to prevent child abuse and/or neglect of children of military families by working in partnership with the MAGTFTC-MCAGCC and Fort Irwin authorities, San Bernardino County’s Child Adult Abuse Hotline (CAAHL) and the Family Advocacy Program. The purpose of the partnership is to increase communication and cooperation among these entities when reporting, coordinating and investigating suspected incidents of child abuse and neglect, as well as during possible removal and placement of affected children, with the aim of strengthening families through the provision of supportive services.
